Be Afraid

Recently I succumbed to two Tee Fury shirts, one was an X Files one and the other Wednesday Addams. Quite appropriately my Wednesday shirt showed up on Wednesday (after being in my town then getting shipped back to Cali then back to my town). Sorry the photos aren't the best today, I need to clean my lens and the sun couldn't make up it's mind of what it wanted to do.

I lucked out when parking today, I found a spot that still had an hour on the timer. Although, that was about the only thing that went well today. It turned into one of "those" days.

In the short distance around the side and into the cemetery I was already sweating. It was super muggy, basically like walking in warm soup. The sun was ridiculous, every time I would set up a shot the sun would come out from behind a cloud and ruin my shot.

When I moved around to a different area in the cemetery a police car pulled in and watched me for a few minutes. That was rather odd, I don't know if he was just on patrol or if someone had called them about a goth girl walking around with a tripod and a parasol. I also got watched by a group of construction workers, between my watchers I was a little creeped out so I ended my photo session early, today was just not a good day for photos.

After taking photos I drove to our normal lunch spot to find out they were closed for renovations. I called Hubby to let him know before he headed that way. We ended up going to another one of our favorite places. On the way home I had to get gas because I was riding on empty, it was then that the ominous clouds decided to open up, it's safe to say I ended up soaked.

Here's hoping tomorrow that the sun will come out and it will be a better day.

The Abandoned Motel

While on the road to Weeki Wachee last week Hubby and I spotted an amazing retro motel sign. We were traveling too fast to stop so we passed by and hoped we would have time to stop on the way back. Since we left the park earlier than planned we traveled back in daylight. When we got close to the little town with the motel the clouds got dark and it threatened to rain. Luckily the rain held off and we were able to walk around on the property.

I was surprised and pleased that we didn't run into anyone, it looked pretty much abandoned although there were plenty of signs that people frequently visit.

Plantations and Southern Heat part 3

I've saved my favorite places for last.

My favorite thing at Pebble Hill has always been the ark. It is a simply charming. It is about the size of a small room and it is full of murals that were painted by the same artist that did the stunning murals inside the main house.

Eeep, there are even red pandas! Red pandas are some of my all time favorite animals.

Hubby's grandmother would have loved seeing the Siamese cats, she had quite the affinity for them.

 The tennis court is a popular area for weddings, they were even setting up for one while we were there.

 Hubby being silly, he didn't think I would catch him in the shot.

Next to the tennis court is the family cemetery.

The cemetery is so peaceful.

Saturday we went to the beach with some friends. I can't remember having so much fun in a very long time. I smiled and laughed almost all day. The weather was perfect and the water was warm yet refreshing. I managed to get a burn on my shoulders and chest but with how much skin I had out (I was brave and wore a bikini) I am glad that is all that burned. I always forget about how strong a reflection the water has. This weekend has been wonderful, I hope all of you having a wonderful time too. Much love.

Plantations and Southern Heat part 2

The sleepy little road to the visitor's center is lined with splendid live oaks and southern magnolias. One side has rolling pastures and a little pond while the other is a fenced paddock area for the horses.

Along the road you will pass the pump house. It was build in 1929 and is a perfect example of 1920's industrial style.

We took this photo along the paddock fence, you will be hard pressed to find a spot on the plantation that isn't photogenic.

The visitor center is so grand, it almost looks like a castle.

Inside you can watch a video about the plantation and it has lots of tack and ribbons on display.

 The carriage house is full of carriages.

You can walk through the barns and old dairy. I took pictures but they didn't make the cut because in the end they were just pictures of stalls.
